The complex brownface "harmonic vibrato", however, was replaced by a simpler electro-optic oscillator. The AA763 (July 1963) and improved AB763 (March 1964) ("blackface") circuit is arguably considered the "best" circuit version produced for this amp by collectors and aficionados. In August 1967, Fender changed the cosmetics from the “blackface” to the “silverface” style. But it really came into its own in the famous 45-watt 2x12" piggyback configuration (ultimately discontinued in 1974). It then evolved to a 3x10" 26-watt tweed combo. The original Fender Bandmaster was introduced in 1953 as a 1x15" tweed combo. I have noticed one of the speakers has a warble in. The Circuit in the Bandmaster is the AB763. I wanted to see what everyone else likes to pair with their blackface fenders. They are from 65 and it looks to be a bassman cab at 4 ohm. I intended on rewiring everything and soldering the speaker wire to the speaker, but didn't get to it. I am wanting to swap out the 2 x 12 Jensen C12N speakers that are in the cab. However, one of the connector tabs broke off one of the speakers and the speaker wire is currently attached with electrical tape. Both Oxfords appear and sound in good working order. These speakers are rated at 30 watts power handling each, so the cab is rated for 60 watts power handling.
